Metro Vancouver Alliance and the Living Wage for Families Campaign are coordinating a rally to show support for Vancouver becoming a living wage city.
Vancouver has the second-highest child-poverty rate among Canada’s 20 largest urban centres. This is despite the fact that a third of those poor children live in working families.
Every member of the community is affected by low-wage poverty.
At MVA’s Municipal Election Accountability Assembly on October 9th, all municipal party leaders committed to developing a plan to make the City of Vancouver a Living Wage employer for all directly and indirectly employed staff.
On July 8th Vancouver City Council will debate a motion that will begin the process of making Vancouver a living wage city. Bring your leaders, members, neighbours and friends to rally in support for this vital policy change.
Let’s show the mayor and council that the whole community supports the living wage!
